Wow, can you believe it? It’s here. Their last year under your roof. And it’s a big year, filled with new experiences and exploration, making plans and visualizing what’s next. It’s exciting and a little sad—all at the same time. It is a year you’ll want to remember, and it will zip by before you even realize it. That’s why it’s so important to capture this moment, this passage of time, with a professional portrait experience.
You know how you are always telling your teen the things you love about them? You probably already know this, but they don’t believe you. How can they? You’re just their parent, after all. ;)
Here at The Crystal Image we see the things that you see—and we capture it in their images. In my 17 years as a professional photographer, the biggest compliment I receive—and receive a lot—is that I have captured the true essence of the individual. From their perfectly crooked smile to her sparkling, kind eyes to his quirky personality—you know, the things that make them, them.
The teens of today appear bolder, more confident, more mature. At least outwardly. But that’s not always the case. Inside, they still battle with the same insecurities that all teens face—which is why it is so very important to have a portrait experience that builds your teen up, let’s them be them and provides imagery that celebrates who they are and where they are in life.
That’s my specialty.
No matter the front they put up, teens worry about their looks and about what others think about them—they want to feel attractive and be truly seen (don’t we all?). They want to be appreciated for who they are, not who others might want them to be. It’s why one of my favorite things is sharing a few images with them during their session—to see the way their eyes light up, and their surprise at how amazing they look. Because they don’t see themselves the way we do. But they should, and having images that allow them to feel good about themselves can be an impactful part of their senior year—and beyond.
At The Crystal Image, we guide you and your teen through the process of making that happen, starting with a pre-consultation to learn about your teen and their personality and interests. It’s our opportunity to meet you and your opportunity to meet us—and confirm that we are the right photographer for you.
We’ll go over all of our pricing and products (yes, we provide finished products—our clients are busy and often overwhelmed—they don’t have the time or energy to be figuring out where to get prints or wall art made, nor do they want to), talk about the type of experience we will create for your teen, and make a plan.
If we are a good fit for your needs, we’ll select the session that is right for your needs and set a date to get back together for your clothing and backdrop consultation. This provides both you and your teen the opportunity to share your likes and dislikes (I find the dislikes are often more important than the likes), talk about your ideas and create a plan to incorporate your vision. Don’t have a vision for your session? That’s okay too! That is what we’re here for—to guide you every step of the way through the process. You can contribute as much or as little as you prefer.
But, no matter what, our goal is always to provide you with the most authentic—and stunning—images of your teen. Images that will be proudly displayed in your home for years to come.
Don’t let this year slip away.
Let me help you celebrate it.

She has taken my family photos and three of my children’s senior pictures. She has a way of bringing out and photographing your child’s personality, capturing that for you—giving you photos that you love and often ones you didn’t even know you were looking for.
Yellow background? Skylar loved the idea. I was a little skeptical but let Crystal do what she does best. Skylar was relaxed, laughing and just being herself and I walked away with some of my favorite photos from her shoot."

"If I could tell people one thing about The Crystal Image, it would be how much I appreciate Crystal’s willingness to sit down and listen—to what we were looking for, to learn about Hailei’s personality and her ideas.
She really wants everything to come out great. She works to make the senior comfortable, which results in better smiles and a fun experience. It is a truly personalized experience—Crystal and her staff care that you feel good—during the process and when it’s over."
